After completing this course, learners will have covered the following areas of knowledge: 

  • Understanding the definitions of, and differences between, conscious and unconscious bias. 

  • Able to reflect on personal experiences with bias and prejudice. 

  • Understanding the psychological reasons behind bias and social labelling. 

  • Able to recognise common stereotypes in scenarios. 

  • Understanding why stereotypes and their perpetuation are harmful. 

  • Define and differentiate between five commons types of bias (Affinity, Perception, Confirmation, Conformity, Halo and Horns) 

  • Identify the nine characteristics protected by UK Equality Act 2010. 

  • Understand the four key forms of discrimination (Direct, Indirect, Harassment, Victimisation) 

  • Identify the steps to acknowledging one’s own bias. 

  • Understanding the definition of inclusivity. 

  • Recognise how inclusivity can be applied in the workplace. 

  • How to identify discrimination in the workplace, and how to challenge it if it arises. 

  • Understand what kind of language and dialogue is inappropriate for the workplace. 

Assessment is formative and spread throughout the course, allowing learners to move on from each section when they feel they've grasped the content.
